Beloved Wife, Mother, and Nanny

Photo of Elizabeth Jaynes Wyatt - 1953-2020

Canton- During the peaceful evening hours of April 12, 2020, Thelma Elizabeth Jaynes Wyatt, was called home by her Lord and Savior on this glorious and blessed Easter Sunday.

Elizabeth was born June 30, 1953 to the late Stanley Jaynes and the late Dorothy Jones Jaynes. She had made her home in Haywood County all of her life and was employed as an accountant with Powell Lumber / Pisgah Hardwood. Mrs. Wyatt was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed working in her flower garden and she was also talented at crocheting. Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family. Each Sunday she lovingly prepared a delicious meal for her children and grandchildren and this special time brought her family together and will be cherished memories forever. Everyone was always welcome to the Wyatt home. Elizabeth, our beloved “Nanny” was a lady with a kind and loving spirit and she was loved for the way that she celebrated her family’s victories, for her hope in all of their dreams and for the love that always shined in her eyes. Let us each rejoice that she is in paradise on this day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Jaynes.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her loving husband of 49 years, Charles Wyatt; her sons, Chuck Wyatt and his wife Michelle of Clyde and Chris Wyatt and his wife Christy of Canton; grandchildren, Ezra, Isaac, and Kelsey; a brother, Frank Allen Jaynes of Waynesville; and her special little dog, “Prissy”.

A private family service will be held for Mrs. Wyatt at The Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Pastor Barry Clark will be officiating.

Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Wyatt to Haywood Hospice, 43 Bowman Drive, Waynesville 28785 or Beulah Baptist Church, 483 Sunset Circle, Canton, NC 28716.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Wyatt family.

Nanny was a special lady. Every time she seen anyone she knew she would always welcome them with open arms & tell them how excited she was to see them. You could always see the love she had through her eyes and the way she carried herself. Most of all, Nanny’s smile could light up a room. She was one of a kind. I know she isn’t suffering & hurting anymore. She in in the arms of the Good Lord watching over us each and every day. I do know one other thing- we loved her more than words can describe & even though we miss her, we will see her again one day!

We all lost one special lady when Elizabeth was called home on Easter Sunday. I have countless memories with Elizabeth that I will always cherish! From watching Friends every Thursday night to going to Belle Chere several summers to just sitting in her living room talking, I will forever remember and love my special friend. Charles and Elizabeth ALWAYS had their home open to me - to all of us. Charles, Chuck, Chris, and family - my heart is broken for all of you, and my prayers continue to be with you all. I know Elizabeth is in Heaven watching over us and no longer hurting, but I will so miss her! I love all of you so very much!
Chris and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. Keep those happy memories of your mom close in your heart. Your mom sounds like a wonderful lady. May God bless, strengthen and comfort you all as only He can.

My heart goes out to the entire Wyatt family. Elizabeth was one of the kindest, caring and genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She could make a very dark day seem bright again. I will treasure the time I spent with her and Charles, who always made me feel welcome, no matter how long it had been since seeing them. I shared so much laughter and growing pains as a young adult with Elizabeth and will never forget our talks and her never ending support. I can remember so clearly when Elizabeth, Chris, Jay, April and I went to Disney World after graduating. We had so much fun, all crammed into that car. And the time we all went to the Asheboro Zoo. She and Charles were always just part of our "gang", and never kicked us out of the house even after they went to bed. She helped shape so many lives and will always have a special place in my heart.
