Canton – Frances Gibson Burgess, age 79, of Thomas Street, entered into the arms of the angels on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Mrs. Burgess was born May 16, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Pink Gibson and the late Laura Thompson Gibson. She was a devoted homemaker and was indeed a wonderful cook and her delicious homemade biscuits were a favorite of everyone. Mrs. Burgess was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and Frances also loved shopping at outlet centers and flea markets. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home and her giving heart helped anyone in need. In remembering Frances, we will always remember her as a lady who brought happiness to many and touched our hearts with her loving spirit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaine Burgess who passed  away in 1999; a son, Hugh Robert Burgess and her brother, Johnny Gibson Surviving are her sons, Gaine “Bo” Burgess of Ironduff, John Ray Burgess of Canton, Rickey Burgess of Canton, Norman Burgess of Clyde and Bobby Burgess of Canton; 9 Grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Grady Gibson of Canton and Donald Russell Gibson of Canton; one niece and 3 nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial will follow at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Sons will serve as pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Burgess family.
