Waynesville- Harley “Glenn” Owenby, Sr., age 61, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, Glenn was born January 26, 1959 to the late Victor Reeves Owenby and the late Helen Conner Owenby Webb.

Mr. Owenby proudly served his country in the United States Army, and later was employed by Lea Industry and also by Giles Chemical in Waynesville. Glenn was a talented woodworking craftsman and loved spending time outdoors, trout fishing in his favorite mountain streams. He loved his family and Glenn was blessed with many friends. Time will pass, but our memories will stay, and our beloved Glenn we shall remember each and every day.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Webb.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Mintz Owenby; children, Jessica Ann Owenby of Waynesville, Harley Glenn Owenby, Jr. and wife Stacy of Waynesville, and Jodi Leigh Owenby Parris of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Victor Edwards Owenby and wife Kathy of Waynesville, Alma Rose Reagan of Waynesville, Jimmy Wayne Owenby and wife Patricia of Waynesville, Richard Lee Owenby and wife Claudette of Clyde, Billy Darrell Owenby of Waynesville, Rose Marie Chapman and husband Jeremiah Green of Waynesville, and William Gifford Webb, Jr. and wife Amy of Canton.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember the life of Glenn will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2020 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
