Waynesville- Harold Eugene Cooper, age 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Harold was born January 15, 1955 to the late James Cooper and the late Bonnie Louise Jones Cooper. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and had been employed with Hayes & Lunsford Electric, Inc. in Asheville for more than 30 dedicated years. Harold was blessed with many friends throughout the area and he was indeed a man who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time at Fontana Lake at his houseboat and cruising on the water in his pontoon boat.  Harold was an amazing water skier and many people often said he was the best skier that they had ever seen on the lake.  He was an avid fisherman and also a great golfer. Mr. Cooper attended Hyatt Creek Freewill Baptist Church and he will forever be remembered as a good man with a kind and caring spirit. Harold loved his wife and daughter with all his heart and soul and he will be deeply missed by all of his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Beecher Cooper and Arthur “Dink” Cooper.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Shelton Cooper of Waynesville; his daughter, April Dawn Cooper of Waynesville; sisters, Freida Bryant of Canton, Talmeta Lindsey of Clyde and Carolyn Stewart and Ray of Clyde; brothers, Luther Cooper and Carol of Thomasville and Thomas Cooper of Waynesville; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Cooper will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Hyatt Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Pastor Randy Bolden will be officiating.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Cooper’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
