Harold Lawrence Cochran, a deeply loved husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Harold’s passing was on Father's Day and we honor his life on this day and give thanks for his full and wonderful life of 80 years. His life was a testament to his faith and his family.

Born on December 30, 1943, in Haywood County, to the late Orville Cochran and the late Elma Sarah Moody Cochran, Harold had lived his entire life surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Where he was raised and where he grew up helped to mold his spirit and make Harold the good man that he was. He retired from BASF Corporation with 29 years of dedicated service and Harold also received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Haywood Community College, working for 6 years, with Associated Packaging in Waynesville. Harold held a strong work ethic and was dedicated to his work, always giving his best.

Memories of spending time at Lake Chatuge going boating with his grandchildren, held a special place in his heart. With his grandchildren by his side the happy sounds of their joy and laughter were treasured moments forever. Harold’s zest for life even included going skydiving and soaring through the open skies!  As a devoted NASCAR fan, he enjoyed supporting his favorite drivers and Harold was also a loyal baseball fan of the Atlanta Braves, trying to never miss a game on television.

He was a man of the Baptist faith and his life was an example and inspiration to his family and to those who knew him. Above all, Harold loved and cherished his family with all his heart and soul. His absence leaves a hurting ache in our hearts, but his spirit will always remain with us forever. Harold Lawrence Cochran- a life well-lived, a man that will never be forgotten.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Anita “Sissy” Weymann, and his sister, Barbara.

Surviving are the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Blenda Ashe Cochran ; his sons, Ronnie Cochran of Canton and Randy Cochran of Canton; grandchildren, Rachel ( Shawn), Allison (Billy) and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Harper, and Chase; a brother, Jack Cochran ( Chris) of New Bern; a sister, Linda Williamson ( Bobby) of Waynesville; also Harold’s loved Labrador Retriever, “Levi”.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Cochran will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 pm Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Cochran  home, 125 Camelot Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
