Haven Leigh Payne
Loved So Dearly
Canton- Haven Leigh Payne, age 33, sadly and tragically lost her life in Clay County, North Carolina on Thursday, May 14, 2020.
To everything there is a SEASON and a time to every purpose under Heaven…..
Haven was born in the SUMMER season, September 9, 1986 and was a blessing to her family each and every day of her life. She was a beautiful, kind, and caring child who loved her family with all of her heart. Haven was very athletic and began playing fastpitch softball with the Canton Little League at the age of 8 years old. She enjoyed having fun and her laughter and joy always filled the Payne home with happiness. Haven was a dearly loved little girl.
As the FALL season of her life approached Haven grew into a lovely young lady. She attended Pisgah High School where she had many friends, enjoyed playing on the PHS fastpitch softball team for 4 years, played travel ball and received numerous awards and recognitions for her athletic ability. Haven was a proud member of the 2004 graduating class of Pisgah High School and chose to continue her education at Montreat College in Black Mountain. Her devotion to sports continued as she played 4 years of softball while a student at Montreat. Haven proudly received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with concentrations in Management and Sports Management. Upon her graduation in 2008 from Montreat College, Haven became employed as the Administrative Assistant of Athletics at Montreat and was also the assistant softball coach for three years at the college.
The WINTER season of her life was filled with an abundance of blessings. She became employed with Silver Bluff Village in 2014 where she began working as a receptionist and later became the Accounts Receivable Representative and Insurance Specialist for the nursing facility. With her strong athletic background she also worked at Urban Athletic Training Center in Canton as a training coach and instructor since 2019. Becoming a mother was the most wonderful thing in Haven’s life. Her greatest love was her daughter, Emma Jean, and in Haven’s own words, “She has been my world since the moment she was born.”
The SPRING season of life her life brings a time when our hearts are broken and we feel a great emptiness without Haven. Help us to remember how she enjoyed life, her endless appetite for tacos and chocolate, and her dedication to her job and spending time at the gym. Most importantly, let us remember her immeasurable love for her daughter, her family, and her friends. Haven brought great joy to all of us and we shall miss her deeply. Her precious memory will never leave our hearts.
Haven was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Grace Medlin, and her paternal grandparents, Betty and Sherman Payne.
Surviving are her parents, David Payne and Djuana Jean Medlin Payne; her precious daughter, Emma Jean Reece; a sister, Kelly Ledford and her husband, Travis; a niece, Oaklyn Ledford and a nephew, Jack Ledford all of Canton; also several aunts, uncles and cousins.
