Hugh Robert Boyd
A Kind and Giving Man
Leicester- Hugh Robert Boyd, age 72, a loving brother, daddy, and grandfather, passed away peacefully entering into his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
Mr. Boyd was born May 4, 1947 and was one of thirteen children born to the late Zeb B. Boyd and the late Virgie Surrett Boyd. Hugh was blessed to be born into a home that was filled with an abundance of love, joy and wonderful happy memories that each of them will cherish forever. He had made his home in Buncombe County all of his life and Hugh deeply loved the mountains where he was born and raised. All throughout his life he had enjoyed fishing in his favorite mountain streams and also going hunting among the mountains in Leicester. Farming his land was his great joy and Hugh was also a gifted and talented rock mason. Mr. Boyd had attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and also Cross Rock Church in Leicester. He was indeed a kind and giving man and in the words of his family, “He had a heart of gold.” Hugh loved all of his family deeply and his memory shall remain a part of each of them forever.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Howard and Kenneth Boyd.
Surviving are his daughter, Melissa Boyd Stanley of Marshall; a son, Billy Boyd of Leicester; his sisters and brothers, Pauline Caldwell, Viola Terry, Joyce Ann Payne, Harold Boyd, Gerald Boyd, Carl Boyd, Keith Boyd, Louise Justice, Betty Ann Santos, and David “Bob” Boyd; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren that Hugh loved deeply.
Also we give thanks for those who touched Hugh’s life with their special love and compassion and who were indeed a blessing in his life: Kelly Stewart, Steven Boyd, Gerald Boyd, Carla Payne, Larry Angel, Jason Terry and Bob & Sue Garrett.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Leicester. Reverend Gene Turner will be officiating.
