A Kind and Caring Lady

Canton / Atlanta, GA- Jacqueline Rebecca Oates, age 90, peacefully entered into her glorious eternal Heavenly Home on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

Jacqueline began her life's journey in the beautiful fall season of October 22, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Will Oates and the late Carrie Sue Mills Oates. She was a native of Haywood County and had made her home in Atlanta, Georgia for the past 10 years.  Mrs. Oates was blessed with a kind and compassionate heart and had been employed as a certified nursing assistant for many years. She held a great love for all children and had been a foster grandparent in the Haywood County School System Program.  As we remember Jacqueline, we recall her great joy of reading, listening to wonderful music, and she was indeed an amazing cook.  Her dedicated faith was an important part of her life and she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Canton where she was deeply loved by her church family. We rejoice and give thanks for Jacqueline’s life and we each have peace knowing that she is now with her Lord and Savior.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeremiah Oates and Lewis Oates, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Alfredia McCrary of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Katrina Hooks (Stanley), Kimberly McCrary and Kannard McCrary all Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters, Margaret Coleman and Gail B. Cook both of Atlanta, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service to honor and celebrate the Homegoing of Jacqueline will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Gibsontown Cemetery in Canton.  Reverend R.C. Williams will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Saturday morning from 10:00 until 11:30 am prior to the graveside funeral service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Oates family.

Sometimes life is hard and it hurts. We don't understand what is happening Or why the Lord would allow us to go through something is so painful. Yet even those times, We can be assured that the Lord loves us, that He has a plan for our lives, and that He will never, ever let us go. Sorry for your loss!!

So very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs Oates while she was a part of the Foster grandparent program. She was a precious lady and the children loved her as did I. May God bless and comfort you. May your memories of her bring smiles and happy thoughts.
