A Caring Lady

It is with profound sorrow we share the news of the passing of a remarkable lady whose life was a mosaic of love and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and all those who knew her. Delora Jean “Jeannie” Treadway Parker passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 and as we say goodbye to our beloved Jeannie, let us hold tight to the legacy she leaves behind- a legacy of love, kindness and generosity to others that will never be forgotten.

Jeannie’s life journey began on February 27, 1963. She was born in Haywood County among the mountains where she has made her home most of the blessed 61 years of her life. She was a 1981 graduate of Pisgah High School where she formed a multitude of enduring friendships. Jeannie’s working career of 43 years with Ingles Markets was an important part of her life. She had held various positions with Ingles during her employment but lastly, she held the title of Deli Merchandiser for the entire Western North Carolina Region. Jeannie served her community through her work at Ingles, not just as an employee, but as a cherished friend who lifted the spirits of all who crossed her path each day.

Her love for her family was immense and the great joy she found in her nieces and nephews was truly immeasurable. She adored them and loved spoiling each one of them- they will forever hold her memory in their hearts, just like the fun “brother- sister” dates with her brother Keith, where laughter, happy memories and wonderful times were never forgotten by Jeannie.

She enjoyed listening to music and singing and the sweet sound of hearing her voice will remain with us forever. Jeannie was a lady of strong faith and was a lifetime member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church where she will be deeply missed by her church family.

To honor Jeannie’s precious life, let us each carry forward her torch of loving and caring about others, lighting the way for others as she did for us. And in the quiet moments, when we find ourselves missing her, let us give thanks for having her in our lives and remember her beautiful smile, and the inspiration and example she was to everyone. We shall miss you always sweet Jeannie.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James S. Treadway and Mildred Sams Treadway Sorrells; her paternal grandparents, Hulin and Grace Case; her maternal grandparents, Floyd and Lena Sams and her brother-in-law, Jon Johnson.

Surviving are her brothers and sisters, Mike Treadway and wife  Dale, Doris Johnson, Terry Trull and wife Sheila, and Keith Treadway all of Canton; her step-mother, Ruth Treadway of Canton; one niece and four nephews; her best friend and co-worker, April Shepard; her Ingles family and many dear friends; also her beloved dog, “Peanut”.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Jeannie will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Dutch Cove Baptist Church. Pastor Jason Miller and Pastor Seth Early will be officiating.  The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Morning Star Community Cemetery. Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Jon Wesley Johnson, Jordan Trull, Josh Treadway, Shane Treadway, Glen Browning, Jr. and Gene Combs.

Memorials may be made in Jeannie's memory to Morning Star Community Cemetery Fund, PO Box 1746. Canton, North Carolina, 28716

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Treadway family.

Condolences from family and friends

I love you so much. You have been here for me for the past 18 years. You was always the first person I spoke to every morning and you kept me going in moments that I did know how much longer I could. We fussed like sisters and loved each other like sisters. We was completely different but that is what made us work. I can't wait to see you in Heaven. I love you and will not ever forget you!

We lost a great co worker and freind this week. We laughed and cried together. We argued like a brother and sister would. She had a big heart and tried her best to be there for you when you were having a bad day. With a heavy heart I say goodbye to my work sister.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Jeannie through Ingles. In those 17 years we had a lot of deep conversations and a lot of laughs. You knew she would have some crazy stories to tell you. You are really going to be missed. Never forget…. Last thing you said to me as you walked away that day, “You tell Matt he will have me to deal with next time he does that” hahah Loki (puppy) bruised my eye! Matt and Jeannie were like brother and sister at work! He will miss her so much. We both will Rest in peace our sweet friend
