JoAnn Gold Parker
Deeply Loved and Greatly Missed
Canton – Our hearts are saddened once again by the passing of our precious mother and grandmother, JoAnn Gold Parker, who passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. We rejoice knowing that she is united in Heaven with her beloved husband, John Thomas Parker who left us this past summer.
JoAnn was born February 5, 1940 to the late Joseph Gold and the late Betty Deweese Gold. She was a native of Haywood County where she had made her home most of her life and retired from Paxar Corporation in Canton with 35 years of faithful service. JoAnn was a dedicated homemaker and she always had the most gracious way of making family and friends feel welcome to her home. She was a wonderful cook and during the summer season she worked tirelessly canning fresh vegetables and making her delicious homemade jelly. JoAnn’s sweet words of “Can I get you something to eat?” always greeted everyone who visited the Parker home. She was a talented quilter and her beautiful quilts will be treasured and passed down to generations to come. Mrs. Parker held a strong faith and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. JoAnn has indeed been a lady who devoted her life to her family and her kind spirit, her gracious ways throughout her life, and her loving heart are examples for each of us to follow. JoAnn’s journey has just begun, she is now in a place of eternal peace and glory and her precious memory lives forever in the hearts of those she touched. We give thanks for her life of 80 years - JoAnn, our mother, our grandmother, our great-grandmother and our sister, you will be deeply loved forever.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas “Tom” Parker who passed away July 23, 2020 and also her brother, Jerry Gold.
Surviving are her children, Karen Hall and her husband, Rick Hall of Canton, and Joey Parker and his wife, Christy Parker of Canton; grandchildren, Kyndra Mesimer and David, Paige Bridges and Butch, and Jared Parker all of Canton; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Brycen, Tytus, Peyton and Landry; her brother, Johnny Gold and wife, Yvonne of Waynesville; and her sister, Nancy Ardolino and husband, Bruce of Raleigh.
The Parker family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Medea Sharp and Nancy King for their devotion and care given to JoAnn and for their kindness and love to all of our family. You both have been a blessing to us.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Greg Cope will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be David Mesimer, Butch Bridges, Tytus Bridges, Jared Parker, Tyque Gold, David Mesimer, and Brycen Mesimer.

Her Journey’s Just Begun
Don’t think of her as gone away
Her journey’s just begun
Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days or years.
Think how she must be wishing
That we could know today
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much.
