Statesville / Candler - Judy Patricia Ann Edmonds Paige, age 76, was called Home on Monday, May 17, 2021.

Judy’s life journey began on May 3, 1945 in Clovis, New Mexico as a daughter of the late John Burton “J.B.” Edmonds, Sr., and the late Dollie Hensley Edmonds.

She was a lady of exquisite beauty and many natural talents, and was selected as first runner up in the Miss Asheville Pageant in 1962. Judy’s gift for playing music was enjoyed by everyone blessed to hear it, and she indeed loved playing for others. She made those piano keys dance and her accordion roar! Drawing came naturally to Judy, and through her art was able to tell a story or share a unique life experience without even saying a word. She has been described as being angelic, and when you were in her presence or listening to her, you could feel her angel wings wrap comfortingly around your soul.

One of Judy’s goals was to be Christlike, and this came naturally to her. She seemed as though she had a special gift to seek out and recognize someone who was hurting, and would pray for them without hesitation. If anyone was heavy-hearted, they knew to call Judy - it was as though she had her own direct line to Jesus.

Mrs. Paige was a teacher, and enjoyed every opportunity to impart knowledge into her students. She also had a passion for teaching Sunday School at Pole Creek Baptist Church where she was a member, and made it one of her personal missions to help others know the love of Jesus Christ. She was kind and welcoming to every person she encountered, and had a heart for connecting with others.

Pole Creek Baptist Church awarded and honored Judy with special recognition for her 25 years of teaching Sunday School and directing the Children’s Choir. She truly enjoyed life and knew how to have fun, be joyful, and appreciate others. She was a devoted wife to Mickey, the most loving mother to Michael and Chris, and was also the proudest Nanny to Tyler and Maddox. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and joyful, Christian spirit.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother who was blessed with 106 years, Clara Edmonds.

Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years, Mickey Paige; sons, Mike Paige of Hollywood, Florida, and Chris Paige (Crystal) of Troutman; grandchildren, Tyler and Maddox Paige of Miami, Florida, Michael, Anthony, and David Rank of Troutman; sister, Rita Fowler (Rev. Art Fowler) of Warner-Robins, Georgia; brothers, Roger Edmonds (Kim) of Candler, and John Edmonds, Jr. of Asheville; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021 at Hice Hill Cemetery in Candler. Rev. Dennis Thurman will be officiating. The family will receive friends at Pole Creek Baptist Church following the service. Face masks are optional for those in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy’s memory to Pole Creek Baptist Church for their Children’s Department at 96 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Paige family.

I had the great privilege of knowing this beautiful, kind, and cheerful woman. I loved singing in the choir with her and visiting with her and Mickey. Mickey, she absolutely loved your mischievous and funny antics and remarks. What a couple! I adored watching the two of you. I know she is leaving a big hole in your family, as my mother did with her homegoing, and I am praying for you. I can almost picture her expression as she gazes upon Jesus, whom she loved, served, and sang for/to for so many years. She was a blessing to all who knew her and she will be truly missed in this world. I look forward to catching up with her when the Lord calls me home.

Mickey, Michael, Chris, and Family, Such sweet memories of Judy - working with the children at church, special VBS projects, and years at the ball field with Michael, Chris, and my boys. The beauty of Jesus was reflected in her radiant smile and humble spirit for all the world to see. She can now enjoy working again with our Devan, Rory, and Mya in heaven. What a blessed reunion we look forward to when we all get to heaven. May each of us honor her memory by following her example to be more like our Lord every day. Our Love in Jesus, Royce & Gwenda
