Forever In Our Hearts

Fairview / Spruce Pine – Wilma June Wiseman Fitchett Wood, age 80, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

June was born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina on May 29, 1942 to the late Coy Wiseman and the late Lena Ellis Wiseman who were residents of Spruce Pine. She was formerly employed as the activity director at Victoria Health Care in Asheville for several years where she brought great joy to all the residents. June was also dedicated to raising her two children. She loved to craft, write Christian humor, and go thrift shopping with her “Besties”. June was a devoted member of  First Baptist Church in Asheville. She loved her family, friends, and also her church family. Southern gospel was her favorite music as she praised her Lord and Saviour. On this day we take comfort in knowing that there is one more angel above us. June will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chip Wood; her sisters, Anna Lee Jarrett, Jo Etta Hollifield, Lucy Dale, and her twin sister, Jane Cook.

Surviving are her children, Michelle Lee (Roger) of Clyde and Shawn Fitchett (Crystal); her grandchildren, Alex Ashe, Tyler Ashe, Cheyenne Lee, and Chase Fitchett; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Lincoln, and Aedan; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life service to honor June will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 19, 2023 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in June’s memory to Hospice and Home Care of The Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Dr. Spruce PineNC, 28777.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Wood family.
