Kathleen "Kathy" Bennett-Eggleston
A Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Canton –On Monday, February 8, 2021 our beloved Carolyn Kathleen “Kathy” Bennett-Eggleston, age 64, was carried by the angels to her eternal Heavenly home.
She was born during the summer season of July 19, 1956 to Mabel Elsie Smith Bennett and the late William Vernon Bennett. Kathy was a native and resident of Swain County before making her home in Haywood County. She attended Swain High School where she was a member of the high school band, played basketball and softball, and made multitudes of friendships that have lasted a lifetime. She was a member of the 1974 graduating class of Swain High School and continued her education at Southwestern Community College where she received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. In 2003 Kathy retired from Duke Power in Franklin and she was later employed with the Haywood County Department of Social Service retiring in 2021. Kathy held a strong faith and was a dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Canton where lifted she lifted her beautiful voice in praise, as a member of the Voices of Pleasant Grove. Kathy truly loved gospel music. She was also a talented seamstress and she blessed many with her lovely handmade clothes. Kathy was loved by everyone and her devotion to her family was indeed an example for each of us to follow. Her kind, caring, and giving spirit will remain a part of each of us forever. We give thanks for Kathy’s life and rejoice at her Heavenly Homegoing.
Surviving in addition to her mother, are her loving husband of 18 years, Robert Eggleston of Canton; a daughter, Mikaela Bennett of Canton; step-children, Christopher Eggleston (Carole) of Arden, and Joseph Eggleston of Canton; step-grandsons, Emory Eggleston and Maverick Eggleston; and sister, Alfrieda Coston of Asheville.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Kathy will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Robert Williams will be officiating. Attendance is limited to 50 and we kindly ask that all COVID regulations will be observed. Entombment will follow in the Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.
