Waynesville – It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Everett Moody on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

Kenneth was born October 13, 1938, in Haywood County. He was the son of the late Everett Moody and the late Hazel U. Caldwell Moody. He was proud of his Appalachian heritage and growing up among the mountains where he was born and raised. Kenneth had been employed as a loyal employee with Haywood County Hospital for 20 years and he had also worked at the 76 Truck Stop in Waynesville where he made many friendships. He loved his family deeply and they all hold wonderful memories of their father and grandfather. Mr. Moody was a man of strong Christian faith and we give thanks for the 84 years of his full and wonderful life and we rejoice that Kenneth is in his glorious heavenly home on this day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Eva Ledford Moody who passed away in 2008; sisters Betty Conner, Charlene Evans, and Evelyn Roland; and an infant son who passed away at birth, Jackie Moody.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Priscilla Parks (Junior) of Waynesville and Tamara Brown (Jim Briggs) of Maggie Valley; granddaughter Stephanie Bucciarelli (Michael) of Charlotte; and sister Margaret Caldwell.

A funeral service to honor and remember the life of Mr. Moody will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Josh Evans and Pastor Kerry Neal Roland will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Private entombment will be held in Garrett Hillcrest Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Moody’s honor to Alzheimer's Association WNC Chapter at 31 College Place Ste Doppler 103, Asheville, NC 28801 or to Crabtree Baptist Church, 480 Crabtree Church Rd., Clyde, NC 28721.

Crawford/Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Moody family.
