A Man With A Servant's Heart

Canton - Lewis Oscar Jenkins, age 68, a kind man who was a friend to many, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Mr. Jenkins was born March 25, 1950 and had made his home in Haywood County most of his life. He was a 1969 graduate of Pisgah High School and following his graduation entered the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Lewis graduated from Haywood Community College and received a Certified Nursing Assistant Degree. He had formerly been employed with Mission Health Systems and most recently was employed at Riverview Farm and Garden in Canton. Lewis held a strong faith and was a dedicated member of Crestview Baptist Church and was also a trained member of the Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Team. When remembering Lewis we think of his friendly personality, his insight on any topic, and his great conversationalist skills. Most importantly, we remember his true servant’s heart.

Surviving are his mother, Mary Whitaker Stephenson of Canton; special friends who Lewis loved and cherished as his family, Ronnie and Pat Mills and their family of Canton; several cousins; and Lewis’s beloved dog and best friend, “Stormy”.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Jenkins.

A celebration of life service with military honors for Mr. Jenkins will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Crestview Baptist Church. Dr. Pastor Dan Page, Pastor Mark Page, and Pastor Ned Webb will be officiating.  A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Jenkins family.
