Our hearts are saddened on this day, as we have lost Marea Elizabeth Cooper Cook Aldridge, age 61, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

Marea was born March 16, 1962, to Louise Messer Cooper and the late James D. “JD” Cooper. Marea was indeed a beautiful child and young lady growing up in her hometown of Canton. Her delightful outgoing personality touched everyone she met. Marea chose a career in the health care profession, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Haywood Regional Medical Center, Silver Bluff Village, and Canton Nursing Home. She was adored by all her patients and she brought a wonderful ray of sunshine into their lives each day. Spending time outdoors truly made Marea happy. Wonderful memories of visiting the beach, spending time at Fontana Lake, and going camping were special and happy times Marea always cherished. The river was also her favorite place to go swimming or just spend a lazy day floating down the river with family and friends. Marea always held a special place in her kind heart for her dogs and all animals.  When Marea spoke about her family, her beautiful smile radiated her great love for each of them. We give thanks for the life of Marea Cooper Cook Aldridge.  

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Dean Cook, and her second husband, Keith Aldridge.

Surviving are her mother, Louise Messer Cooper of Canton; her son, Josh Cook and his wife, Natosha Cook of Canton; granddaughters, Loren Cook of Spartanburg, SC and Kendall Cook of Canton

A service of remembrance to celebrate the life of Marea will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Reverend Court Greene will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made in Marea’s memory to The Crest View Center, 90 Asheland Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

Louise , Josh, and family, I am so sorry to hear of Marea”s passing. She and I were like sisters in our youth. We went to school together and double dated going on to be at each other’s wedding and the birth of our boys. We shared more laughs and tears and good memories Of a lifetime. Josh, Louise, and Family, I remember when Marea was born, she was our neighbor and everyone loved her. She always, always wore a contagious smile, never wore shoes...never, and graced everyone with her kind, sweet, gentle spirit. I remember she always spoke kindly of everyone and had an immense love for animals. I will miss her sweet smile and waves as she passed my home each day, but I know she is resting in Heavenly Peace.
