Margaret "Nell" Huffman Davis
Canton- Margaret “Nell” Jernell Huffman Davis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend, who was blessed with 84 years of a full and wonderful life, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Nell was born April 10, 1936 in Haywood County to the late Kyle Huffman and the late Myrtze Gentry Huffman. She had made her home in Canton most of her life and was blessed with a multitude of dear friends that loved her dearly. Nell was a dedicated homemaker and she was a faithful member of the VFW and was an active officer with the Auxiliary which reached out to the community to help hundreds of children and anyone that might need a helping hand. She loved spending time at Lake Fontana with her family and these will be special memories cherished forever. She enjoyed listening to music by Charlie Pride, her favorite artist and she was very talented at arranging beautiful floral arrangements. Nell was a kind and caring lady who touched the hearts of many and we will miss her deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Danny Ray Huffman; four sisters, and two brothers.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Jerry Davis; her children, Roger Dale Huffman (April) of Waynesville, Tony Wayne Davis of Canton, Kyleene Grumbles of Simpsonville, SC, Bruce Davis (Caroll) of Kentucky, Vivian Lue Davis of Lexington, KY, and Jake Davis (Kaitlyn Burnette) of Canton; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her sisters and brother, Evelyn Ward of Waynesville, Donny Huffman (Telena) of Clyde, and Phyllis Bonham (Richard) of Cleveland, SC.
A private family graveside service will be held at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Hospice at 43 Bowman Dr. Waynesville, NC 28785 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105.
