In Loving Memory

Clyde- Martha Emily Childers Stiles, age 84, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016.
Mrs. Stiles was born April 26, 1931 in Haywood County to the late Joseph E. Childers and the late Connie Emily Penland Childers. She was a devoted homemaker, a talented seamstress and she also gave of her time to help others by serving as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Martha was indeed a wonderful cook and baker and she was affectionately given the title of “Pound Cake Queen” by her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Chatuge and these memories will be cherished by all of her loved ones. Mrs. Stiles had been a dedicated member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church for 64 years where she had been a member of the church choir and had also served as president of WMU.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Stiles who passed away in 2010; two sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are her children, Phyllis Kinsland and her husband, Steven Kinsland of Inman , SC, Mack and his wife, “ Nit” Stiles of Raleigh, Betsy Jones and her husband, Gary Jones of Canton and Jan Smith and her husband, Rick Smith of Yanceyville; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold “Hoss” Childers and his wife, Felma Childers of Canton.
A celebration of life for Martha Childers Stiles will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Clyde Central United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to stay for a time of remembrance and fellowship following the service.
