Mary Carver Holder
A Precious Lady

Canton- As Heaven’s angels watched over Mary Elizabeth Carver Holder, she peacefully passed away and entered into eternal peace and rest on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
Mary was born March 4, 1932 to the late Arvil Carver and the late Sallie Smith Carver. She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and was blessed with a family that loved her deeply and with friends that have cherished her friendship all throughout her 88 years of a full and wonderful life. A dedicated homemaker, Mary enjoyed entertaining and those who visited the Holder home were greeted with open arms and were always made feel right at home. She especially enjoyed planning special meals using her beautiful china and preparing a bounty of delicious food for her family and friends. Mary loved to cook and she often shared her homemade cakes, samples of all types of delicious candy and even varieties of jellies and vegetables that she had canned during the summer season with those she loved. Her home was filled with an amazing collection of angels that were admired all throughout the year and Mary was quite talented at arranging beautiful flowers that were displayed throughout her home. Holidays were a favorite time at the Holder home and everyone always enjoyed being together and reminiscing about years gone by. Mary and her beloved late husband, Ray shared a marriage of 62 years of a devoted and wonderful life together. Today, as we hold Mary’s memory in our hearts, do an act of kindness or reach out to share a gift of love to someone special in your life, Mary would be pleased.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Holder who passed away in 2014; and her son, Denver Ray Holder, Jr.; four brothers, and seven sisters.
Surviving are her grandson, Zachary Holder and Maggie McGuin; her sisters, “Tootsie” Lindsey of Canton, and Linda Smith and husband Claude “Buck” Smith of Canton; nieces, Patsy Underwood, Gail Henson, and Earlene Moore who were always there for Mary, and several other nieces and nephews.
