Matthew Lee Gibson

Our hearts are saddened by the great loss of Matthew Lee Gibson, age 37, on November 8, 2023. He has left us far too soon but now is at peace in his eternal place of rest.

Matthew was born September 16, 1986 in the picturesque mountains of Western North Carolina. In his formative years at Tuscola High School, he had a passion for music, especially as a drummer in the Tuscola marching band. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and his memory lives on in the rustle of the autumn leaves, the sounds of music in the distance, and even in the peaceful quiet moments when the beauty of a sunset takes our breath away. Matthew was a son, a brother, a nephew, and a cherished member of a family that loved him. As we struggle with the sorrow of losing Matthew, let us find solace in knowing that he may be gone from our sight but he is never gone from our hearts.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Douglas Gibson and Deborah Stamey Gibson Yantes.

He is survived by his brother, William Sean Gibson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private family service will be held at Morning Star Community Cemetery.
