Canton- Michael Christopher Caldwell, age 67, entered into his eternal Heavenly home on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

Michael was born April 30, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, later making his home in Haywood County where he had resided most of his life. He was employed as a skilled electrician with Colbond / BASF Corporation in Enka for 40 dedicated years. Michael was blessed with a vast knowledge of historical events, always reading history books, articles and watching documentaries that pertained to the past. He was a very talented artist, spending many hours sketching and drawing and his work was admired by many.  Michael also enjoyed being outdoors and was a gifted marksman who enjoyed target shooting. In the words of his family, “Michael was a simple man and a family man who loved us with all of his heart.” He shall be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Samuel Caldwell.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Lorna Putnam Caldwell of Canton; his mother, Gretta Baldry Caldwell of Canton;  daughters, Amanda Robinson and Jeremy of Canton and Sara Miller and Jason of Canton; sons, Benjamin Caldwell and Lauren of Taylors, SC and John Caldwell and Holly of Canton; grandchildren, Emily, Nathan, Roman, Ada, and Graham; brothers, Kim Caldwell and Debbie of Maynardville, TN and Jeff Caldwell and Kim of Warrensburg, Missouri; a sister, Sandra Fox and Burton of Canton; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service to honor the life of Mr. Caldwell will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Roy Kilby will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service.

Mike was a great man and will always be remembered for his kind and caring ways. I will miss him for the rest of my life. I am truly grateful to have known him.

I had the honor of working with Mike at colbond. I was scared to death of him when I first saw him considering I was only 150 pounds, but he was just a giant teddy bear that was full of knowledge and always willing to help. I will miss him and never forget him. He was a good man and awsome Maintenance technician

Big C was a true friend and I am sure he will be missed by all that knew him. I had the pleasure of working with him for many years and got to see what a kind and generous man he truly was. His sense of humor and the way he would tell a good story always made everyone laugh. He had such love for his family and talked about that often. I had the pleasure of working with Mike. I always enjoyed his stories and knowledge. Mike was a hard worker and a dedicated Union member. He was missed tremendously when he retired but will forever be in our hearts.

Mike was a man who left an impression on everyone that meet him. He always had a story to tell and bring a smile on there face. Rest in peace ole buddy. People who knew you will never hear your name and not smile again.
