Canton -Tommy Joe Hill, age 78, of Skyline Drive, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015. Mr. Hill was born August 1, 1937 in Knoxville, TN to the late Jeffrey Ellis Hill and the late Irene Haire Hill. He honorably served his country as a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Hill retired from APAC as a general superintendent, overseeing most of the work done throughout the Western North Carolina area. The special memories of Tommy hunting and fishing on Calderwood Lake will be treasured forever. Mr. Hill was of the Baptist faith. He shall be deeply missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Montgomery Hill who passed away in 2014; brothers, Jitter, Hoss, Billy, Dale and Jeff Hill and Tommy’s special dog,“ Ms. Worm”. Surviving are his daughters, Becky Livingston of Asheville; Kim Turner (Jeff) of Waynesville; Ginger Hill of Clyde; Stephanie Ward (Jason) of Mississippi; Debbie Rauhuff and (Danny Plemmons) of Knoxville, TN; a son, Tommy Hill Jr. ( Allison) of Canton; grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Livingston, Sam Jackson (Keisha), Adam Jackson, Cory Hill, Tonya Raby, Beth Ann Hicks and Steven Rauhuff; great-grandchildren, Nellie Jackson, Landon Raby, Lindsay Raby and Hunter Simpson; sisters, Carolyn Simerly (Don) of Canton, Cindy Latham(Gary)of Clyde, Tammy Coates (Terry) of Madison County, LeaLea Allen (Ray) and Gale Hill of Knoxville,TN; brothers, Dave Hill (Lisa), Biggen Hill (Sharon), Eanie Hill, and Wayne Hill all of Knoxville, TN; many nieces and nephews and also “Jake” the cat. To honor Mr. Hill’s request, no formal services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC, 28801 or to Haywood Healthcare Foundation, Inc., Hospice and Palliative Care, 262 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721. Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Hill family.

I am saddened to learn of Tommy's death. He and Peggy will always be remembered fondly as friends. Also for the years of friendship, kindness and help to my parents who lived across the street from them.

It is at up most Sympathy that I regret to notice the passing of Tommy, I went to school with Ginger and Tommy (Jr.). The family has my deepest Sympathy for the loss of this family member. God Bless one and all.

Dear Carolyn and others, We were sad to hear that our friend Tom had gone on to heaven but thankful he is up there with Jim. One of Jim's last requests was that Tom and other friend Bill Webb would be with him up there. When Bill died 2 years ago a man gave testimony at his service that he had received Jesus just before his passing (from a brain tumor). We pray that the God Who loves and cries with us will give you grace, peace, and joy in the name of Jesus the Christ. love and prayers, mary (Margie), Gina, Kim, and Michael: the McHarris clan still at 1712 South Forest Drive in Knoxville. We will always remember you. I still remember Irene (his mom) hanging out clothes down in the valley where they lived when Jim and I dated !!! First time I met any of the family.(Margie)
