Nancy Morgan Lawrence
Loving Mother and Grandmother
On Wednesday, April 8th, 2020, our loving mother, Nancy Morgan Lawrence, age 87, peacefully closed her eyes and departed into the loving arms of our Savior.
Nancy was born on May 8th, 1932 to the late Hillard and Mary Hendrix Morgan of Asheville. She was a 1950 graduate of Lee Edwards High School and following her graduation she became employed with the Asheville City Water Department. After the birth of their first child, she and her husband, Walter Lawrence, moved to Canton to make their home and raise their family. Her family was very important to her and she always put them first. Nancy enjoyed bowling and bingo, playing cards with her friends and also the craft of needlepoint. Nancy was deeply loved by her children and in their words “She was always our protector.” Her precious memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lawrence who passed away 1989 and three older sisters, Kathryn Morgan, Barbara Robey, and Ruth Lanning.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Tim Lawrence and Danny Lawrence both of Canton, Sandra Sorrells (Doug) and Mike Lawrence (Cindy) all of the Bethel Community; Nancy was blessed with ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road with Logan Sorrells officiating. Grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers.
