Ollie Price Green
A Strong and Loving Lady

Clyde- Ollie Lee Price Green, age 89, a special lady that had devoted her life to caring for her family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2020.
Ollie was born June 19, 1931 to the late Frazier Price and the late Cora Fisher Price. She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and Mrs. Green was truly a lady who dedicated her entire life to caring for others and making certain that her family felt loved and cared for each and every day. Her life story is that of a strong lady who had mastered every task that a good home could possibly need. Each year she grew a garden filled with multitudes of vegetables that she cooked and canned for her family and friends and this was always done by planting by the signs on the farmer’s almanac. She spent endless hours milking and caring for her dairy cows and she never failed to tend her tobacco field. Of course, it goes without saying Ollie was an amazing cook and her table was always filled with delicious mountain food that we all love. Her biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings, and the strawberry and blackberry cobblers that she made from the berries that her children picked were the most wonderful food in the world. Ollie even cleaned and prepared all wild game and fresh meats that were served to her family. Her children’s clothes were sewn by her own hands. She was a good and Christian woman who served the Lord and was a member of Clyde Church of God. Ollie’s life was a journey of a true mountain woman. Her years were spent giving and caring for others, and she was an example and a blessing of a mother and wife that put everyone before herself. She was a guide for each of us to follow and we each have peace in our hearts knowing that she is now in God’s care forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ernest Green who passed away in 2012; a grandchild, Michael Frazier Bentley; a brother, Ben Price; a sister, Helen Russell and a son-in-law, Clifton York.
Surviving are her children, Cora Lee York of Westmoreland, Tennessee, Jerry Green of Clyde, Linda Norris and Jim of Waynesville and Janice Bentley and Dan of Canton; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Lewis and Jess of Clyde, and Emma Barker of Clyde; and many dear friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde. Pastor Mike Nations will be officiating.
The Green family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Autumn Care for their kindness and consideration of our family and our beloved mother and grandmother.
