Canton- Ona Mae Zimmerman McIntyre, age 77, of Worley Cove Road, entered into the arms of the angels on Monday, February 2, 2015. Mrs. McIntyre was born June 30, 1937 in Haywood County to the late John Golden Zimmerman and the late Debrada Shepard Zimmerman. Ona was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Ona loved to travel and she and Mr. McIntyre traveled throughout the United States and Germany while he honorably served his country in the armed forces. Ona was a wonderful swimmer, she loved water aerobics and always enjoyed spending time in the beautiful sunshine. Ona cherished her beloved grandchildren and her great grandson with all her heart and the precious memories that they shared together will never be forgotten. She was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church and Ona’s faith played an important part in her life. Her memory will be treasured forever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard McIntyre who passed away February 6, 2010. Her sisters, Dena McDowell , Ruby Williams and Hilda Fleming and her brothers, John Jr., Bob and Ralph Zimmerman and also a nephew that meant the world to her, Dean Moody. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debora Burks and her husband, Steve Burks of Fayetteville, Georgia, Donna Parker and her husband, Benjamin Parker of Canton and Denise Ledford and her husband, Randy Ledford of Canton; a son, Dickey McIntyre of Canton; grandchildren, Brian Ross and his wife, Vianna Ross of Blossom, Texas, William Parker and his wife, Kristen Parker of Ellijay, Georgia, Nathaniel Clement of Asheville, Trent Ledford of Canton and Tiffany Ledford of Canton; a great grandson, Raylan Parker of Ellijay, Georgia and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mrs. McIntyre will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening, February 4, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. The Reverend Donnie Henson will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. The McIntyre family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of CarePartners/ Hospice in Asheville for the special love and care given to Ona.
