Raanel S. Evans Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother Canton – Raanel Edith Singleton Evans, age 68, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, passed away into the arms of the angels on Monday, May 4, 2015. Mrs. Evans was born April 1, 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of Mary Rogers of the Bethel community and the late Horace Singleton. Mrs. Evans was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church. Raanel was a devoted homemaker, a talented seamstress and also a wonderful cook. Her delicious broccoli casserole was a favorite of everyone! Raanel loved Coca Cola and her collection of Coca Cola memorabilia was enjoyed by everyone visiting the Evans home. She was an avid genealogist and her family’s heritage and past history was very important to her. Her special trips to the beach were always cherished memories by Raanel and her love of listening to her favorite music by Elvis Presley will never be forgotten. The Christmas season was a special time for Raanel. She loved this happy and joyous time that she shared with her loving family and this was indeed the holiday that Raanel loved the most. Raanel Singleton Evans was truly a mother to many, she blessed her children and grandchildren with her love and she also touched many many other lives with her kind and caring heart. In addition to her mother, she is survived by are her loving husband of 41 years, Paul Evans of Canton; her children, Mike Singleton and his wife, Kay Singleton of Faison, NC, Gabriel Rogers and her husband, Larry Rogers of the Bethel community, Paul Evans and his wife, Amber Evans of Fines Creek, Laura Earley and her husband, David Earley of Waynesville and Miranda Evans of Clyde; her grandchildren, Michael, Kailey, Blake, Allison, Daniel, Lorena, Drew and Olivia and several cousins, aunts, uncles and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Crestview Baptist Church. The Reverend John H. Swanger, III, Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby, and The Reverend Dan Paige will be officiating. Burial will be at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Crestview Baptist Church.
