Fairview - During the peaceful early morning hours of Sunday, March 28, 2021, Rebecca Anne McMinn Murray was carried home by the angels to her glorious place in eternal paradise.

Rebecca was born May 10, 1934 in Henderson County, North Carolina to the late Roy McMinn and the late Bessie Coggins McMinn. She had made her home in Buncombe County most of her life and retired from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. Rebecca loved flowers and her home was surrounded by beautiful flower gardens that she grew and tended with love. During her quiet times, Rebecca enjoyed reading and this was indeed one of her favorite pastimes. Most importantly, Rebecca loved her family and they have each been blessed by having her as a part of their lives. We give thanks for her 86 years of a wonderful life and rejoice that on this day she is in her eternal heavenly home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Frank Murray who passed away in 2000; daughter, Shirley Owenby; a grandson, Anthony Owenby; and also six brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ken Murray and Elaine Murray of Fletcher; and her son-in-law, Brisco Owenby of Fairview; grandchildren, Travis Murray of Hendersonville, Allen Owenby and Penny of Fairview, Bobby Owenby of California, and Sandra Owenby of Ohio; her sisters, Betty Jo and Faye; a brother, Howard; and also several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The Murray family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Donald Culver, the nurses, and entire staff of the 100 hall at Fleshers of Fairview Nursing Home. The loving care and compassion that Rebecca received made her feel loved every day and she was always delighted in winning quarters while playing bingo!

A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Murray will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2021 at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Candler. Pastor Lonnie Ray will be officiating.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Murray family.
