A Man Deeply Missed and Loved By Everyone

Revis "Nick" Curtis Reemes, entered into his glorious eternal Heavenly home on Saturday, April 27, 2024. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Nick. In his final moments surrounded by his loving family the soft words “I love you” were said to Nick by his beloved Peggy and his family. These three words, simple but so profound speak of how blessed by Nick’s life they have each been. He was a wonderful son, husband, daddy, grandfather, brother, and friend. Nick’s journey on this earth was marked by the love he shared with his family, the faith he held, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.

Nick was born on July 18, 1959, to the late Jack Dempsey Reemes and the late Ida Mae Surrett Reemes. He was a lifelong resident of the Sandy Mush Community of Leicester and was raised with a large and loving family surrounding him as grew up. Nick was a blessing each and every day of the 64 years of his life. He was a man of the mountains who found peace and solace in the embrace of nature. A true outdoorsman, Nick’s hands were always busy and working in the soil of the earth. He was a farmer, a steward of the land, raising cattle and horses, caring for his chickens, and harvesting the vegetables from his garden. Nick’s love for the land was evident in every fence he built, all the wood he cut and the produce he grew. He also enjoyed watching the birds and feeding the squirrels that were always around the Reemes home. When remembering Nick, we can still see him driving his 135 Massey Ferguson tractor which was more than a machine to Nick – it was a companion in all his chores and jobs and was a true symbol of his daily life and all his hard work.

His passion for life extended to the streams and mountains where he often fished and went rabbit and coon hunting. He was a trapper, a seeker of ginseng, and a man who knew the woods like the back of his hand.

Nick’s humor was a light in our lives. He was a jokester who delighted in bringing smiles to the faces of family and friends with his tricks and fun pranks. During the blessed Christmas season, Nick’s love for the holidays shined brightly as he loved to decorate his home with festive lights, bringing joy to all the family and his neighbors.

A devout Christian, Nick was a faithful member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where he often hummed and whistled his favorite hymns of praise. His precious spirit will always be remembered at Chestnut Grove, the church he dearly loved.

Nick was the rock of his family. He was a fortress of strength and comfort each day of his life. His strong presence filled every room he entered and his memory will be carried on by those who knew and loved him. Let us always remember Nick’s wonderful words of wisdom, “Show those that you love them by actions not just by words.”

In the quiet moments, when we feel the mountain breeze or hear the distant sound of a tractor, we will remember Nick. In the laughter of our children, the warmth of family gatherings, and the steadfastness of our faith, Nick’s spirit will always be with us.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, Charles, Petey, Conley and Garrett Reemes.

Surviving are Nick’s wonderful family- the love of his life and his devoted wife of 46 years, Peggy Jo McIntosh Reemes of Leicester who together they shared a blessed marriage and a lifetime of precious memories; his beautiful daughters whom Nick cherished, Jennifer Reemes of Leicester and Stephanie Eller and her husband, Mitchell of Weaverville; his grandchildren that were the light of his life, Ty, Cheyenne, Mellanie and Jacob; his brothers, Everette Reemes and his wife Jackie Sue, Grady “Pilk” Reemes and Ralph “Pill” Reemes and his wife Renee all of Leicester.; nieces, Lynette, Trisha, Lisa, Crystal and Sarah; nephews, Jimmy, Lee, and Justin; also several great-nieces and nephews and many good friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Leicester. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Brown, Pastor Dewayne Brown and Pastor Ricky Surrett. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is deeply honored to be caring for the Reemes family.
