Canton - R J Plemmons, age 72, of Cresent Loop, entered his eternal Heavenly home on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Mr. Plemmons was born May 3, 1942 to the late Raymond Plemmons and the late Fannie Crane Plemmons. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and retired from Dayco Corporation with 23 years of dedicated service. He had also worked as a foreman with Wilson, Davey and Asplundh tree service companies. RJ was a true outdoorsman and he loved the mountains where he was born and raised. The wonderful happy times of camping at Mountain Shadows Campground will always be treasured forever. Mr. Plemmons was an avid hunter and fisherman and he also could be found spending many hours working in his garden. To know RJ was to love him and his delightful personality of being a true jokester and a fun prankster brought much joy to his many friends and family. He deeply cherished his family and his grandchildren were indeed the love of his life. We say goodbye to a loving husband, father and grandfather and a dear friend who has touched many throughout his lifetime and we hold onto our precious memories until we meet again. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, JC “Buck” Plemmons and Grady Plemmons; his sisters, Lessie Owenby and Edna Webb. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Janet Trull Plemmons; his sons, Rickey Plemmons and his wife, Monica Plemmons of Maggie Valley, Kenneth Dailey and his wife, Robin Dailey of Canton, Keith Dailey and his wife, Lynn Dailey of Canton and Clifton Dwight Dailey and his wife, Melody Dailey of Canton; his daughters, Vickey Plemmons Buckner and her husband, Jack Buckner ,Jr. of Leicester, Delissa Washington and her husband, Nate Washington of Canton and Tonya Burchfield and her husband, Mike Burchfield of Canton; 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Zettie Plemmons of Canton, Genevieve Kevish of Waynesville, Faye Capps of Canton, Wanda Inman of Canton and Linda Stamey of Canton; brothers, Paul Plemmons of Canton and Wade Plemmons of Canton; many numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece, Priscilla Ervin of Waynesville and also RJ’s special companion, his 9 year old miniature schnauzer, “Lady”. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. The Reverends Roy Kilby, Dan Page and Mark Caldwell will be officiating. Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The Plemmons family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Haywood Infusion Therapy and Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice for their care and compassion shown to RJ and our family.
