Loved His Family Deeply
Hot Springs - Roger Dale Swaney, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
Roger was born February 4, 1956 to the late Clydes Swaney and the late Hazel Tino Swaney. He was a lifelong resident of Hot Springs and began tobacco farming at a very young age. Roger was a talented wood working craftsman and he made and sold beautiful cedar chests and Adirondack chairs that were admired by everyone. He loved his family deeply and he delighted in spoiling his precious grandchildren. Roger was blessed with a great personality and he enjoyed joking and kidding with his many friends and family. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Roger was indeed a hard worker all of his life and he was an example of a truly good man who has devoted his life to his family. He shall forever be missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great niece, Callie Cochran.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jane McAninch Swaney; his children, Chris Swaney and wife Danielle of Hot Springs, Misty Woody and husband Darrell of Leicester, and Stephanie Cantrell and fiancé Frankie Lopez of Laurel; his grandchildren, Mallory Swaney and fiancé Nick Decker of Spring Creek, Rylee Swaney of Hot Springs, Steven Swaney and wife Monica of Hot Springs, Isaac Woody of Leicester, Faith Woody of Leicester, Josh Woody of Leicester, Tim Cantrell and fiancée Serena Burrell of Marshall, Marissa Cantrell of Hot Springs, Austin Cantrell of Hot Springs; one great-granddaughter, Cheyanne Cantrell of Marshall; his sister, Judy Holt and husband Fred of Hot Springs; his niece, Brandi Holt; his great-nephew, Levi Cochran; and a special friend, Brianna Roberts.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2020 at Antioch Cemetery in Hot Springs. Pastor Darrell Woody, Pastor Randy Wood, and Pastor Jeffrey Moore will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the Swaney family kindly asks that memorials be made to Crawford / Ray Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
