Ronald Dale Wynes died on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his residence in Candler. A native of Buncombe County, he was born on May 7, 1953, to his late parents Floyd Washington Wynes, Jr. and Mary Jane Raper Wynes. 

Ronnie graduated from Enka High School in 1971. He worked most of his life as a telecommunications technician. Throughout his life, Ron always demonstrated devotion to his family and friends. He was known to be a friend to many in the community and displayed a kind nature to anyone he met.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Wynes, who passed away in 2004.

Ronnie is survived by his children: Heather Wynes O'Brien of Culpeper, VA,  Eric Wynes of Bealeton, VA, and Christina Wynes Neely of Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren; sisters, Judy Wynes Watson of Sanford, NC, Linda Wynes Lail of Shelby, NC, Annette Wynes McFall of Candler, NC, Susan Wynes Ramsey of Candler, NC, Vanita Wynes Price of Candler, NC and also a brother, Joe Wynes of York, SC.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Crawford /Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Reverend Dr. Mike Brown will be officiating.

I new Ron in high school. He was fun to be around and always had a kind word and a smile on his face. He will be surely missed by everyone in our class of 71. Prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

I remembered Ron well from High School and and always thought of him as one of the nicest guys in our class. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. God be with his family and friends and give them peace knowing he is now with God in heaven.

Ron had the most precious smile and laugh. I don't remember ever seeing him in high school that he wasn't smiling. That's a special gift. May the Lord comfort his family and friends!

Remembering Ronnie from elementary and high school as a friend I always loved to be around! He was funny, always in a good mood, and happy. Invariably made me laugh! I know his family is going to miss him very much. Praying that Holy Spirit will comfort and sustain all of you.

Having grown up with all of the Wynes family here on South Hominy I have such good memories of them all Going camping, hiking, playing ball with Ronnie and Joe was so much fun and you know they never had a bad word for anyone Thanks to their sweet mother Ronnie we will see you again in glory Peace be with all your family

I saw Ronnie at the last few class reunions. He was always somebody I could come right up to and start talking. I will miss not seeing him there. My deepest condolences to his family.

Ronnie was a good man. I graduated with him in 1971. I remember his smile and laugh because they were the most prominent and constant feature he had. He was not afraid to share either of them with anyone. I am praying that God will comfort his family in the days ahead.
