In Loving Memory

Ronald Keith Donaldson, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Haywood County on September 4, 1953, to the late William and Ella Donaldson, he was a beloved father, caring grandfather, cherished friend, and respected community member.

Ron was known for his insatiable mind, a lighthearted sense of humor, and an unwavering commitment to the urgency of the gospel. As a faithful member of Waynesville Christian Fellowship in Waynesville, he wished to be remembered for a commitment to “keep working even when the going gets tough and to leave uncertain results to the Lord.”

Mr. Donaldson worked proudly as a civilian within the U.S. Department of Defense, where he blended analytical skills with patriotism and a zeal for teaching the motivated and the curious.

He approached life with determination and wonder, whether he was listening with eyes closed to the ocean waves crashing on the shore, helping a grandchild tally the colors of the candy they were eating together, or testing whether Siri could accurately calculate the “inverse cosine of negative zero point seven zero seven.”

Ron will be deeply missed by his family: Daniel Donaldson, his son; Aaron and Katie Donaldson, his son and daughter-in-law; Laura Cory, his daughter; and Jacob, Jordan, Caleb, David, and Emma, his grandchildren. His family will find solace in the enduring memories he created and the thoughtful advice he gave. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

A service of remembrance to honor Ron’s life will be held at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Donaldson’s memory to the American Bible Society, PO Box 8914, Topeka, KS 66608-9983.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Donaldson family.

Condolences from family and friends

That was a beautifully written obituary for my old high school friend. It truly captured the essence of the man I knew as Ronnie.

I had the pleasure to get to know Ron over the last several years. He was a kind, intelligent, God loving friend. He spoke often of his lovely family and of how much he loved them. I will miss him.
