A Man of Courage

Photo of Roy Shannon Parham - 1971-2020

Canton- Roy Shannon Parham, age 48, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, January 7, 2020.

Roy was born August 10, 1971 and had made his home in Haywood County most of his life. As we remember Roy we think of the things that he enjoyed most and we remember his gentle and kind spirit. He loved music, and attending one of Willie Nelson’s concerts was a memory he deeply treasured.  He loved his family and he cherished his beloved cat, “Diego”, who was his true companion.  Reading, constructing model cars, photography and sketching were also favorite pastimes of Roy. He was indeed a man of great courage and an example for each of us to follow as he faced many challenges throughout his life.  We rejoice that Roy is now in his eternal heavenly home and all things are well and perfect.

Surviving are his mother, Becky Parham; his sister, Joanna Rowland (Brandon); a niece, Cayli Parham; a nephew, Cody Parham; an aunt, Tonya McGaha (Buddy);  cousins, Keisha Lanning (Jonathan), Josh Scott (Brooke), Heidi, Nathan and Lydia.

Roy’s great compassion for others brought his decision to gift his physical body for medical research, which will be a ray of hope for others.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Pinnacle Church in Canton. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Parham family.
