A Generous and Loving Lady

Clyde- Ruby Lee Russell Hannah, age 90, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Maggie Valley.

Ruby was a woman of faith who loved her family and friends, both new and old, with a deep and abiding love.  Her green thumb was the envy of all, and she got great pleasure in gifting a cutting or potted plant to everyone who came by for a visit.  She always had a pot of coffee made and insisted on feeding everyone who came through her door.  Her generous heart ensured a ready willingness to help supply any need that arose in her community and church family.  Mom enjoyed watching and feeding her feathery friends, and loved crafting - and in her later years, she especially enjoyed coloring.

Mom was the best wife ever to her husband of forty-nine years.  Our daddy, Paul, passed in 1996, at the young age of seventy, but mom carried on like the trooper she was, for the next twenty-four years.  Her great love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren was obvious to anyone.

It’s impossible to encapsulate such a big life, in such a small space.  She is loved to the moon and back and will be missed for the remainder of our lives.  It is so precious to envision her with our daddy - and surrounded by her larger family in heaven.

Ruby is predeceased by our daddy, Paul Hannah; her son-in-law, Russell Lowe; her grandson, Jared Adam Best; her sisters, Margaret, Lois, Janey, Lucy, Gail, and May; her brothers, Earl, Tommy, Jimmy, Forest, and Eugene; and her dearest friends, Irene Smathers and Emily Lockrey.

Surviving are her children, Gracie Lowe, Teresa Brown (Calvin), Keith Hannah, Kenneth Hannah (Debbie), and Patti Best (Hugh); her grandchildren, Lisa, Leona, Angie, Alan, Sherry, Amy, KaTina, Kara, Paul, Nathan, Lauren, Aaron, and Chelsea; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jennings, Bethany, Charlie, Molly, Katie, Christian, Noah, Connor, Stephen, Colton, Nicole, Jordan, Bethany, Jacob, Sam, Charlie, Michael, Landon, Leora, Dominick, Gracie, Zachary, Wilhelm, Hannah, Aidan, and Mikayla; her great-great-grandchildren, Jayden, Noah, Mikayla, Kimberly, Greyson, Finn, Isabel, Collyns, and Jackson; her sister, Dorothy Justice; and multiple nieces and nephews.

The funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Hannah will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, July 5, 2020 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for Ruby and her family.

Patti and Family, I am sorry for your loss. Mother and I enjoyed conversations with your mother, and we certainly enjoyed her beautiful flowers. Her sweet smile and her flowers surely brightened the neighborhood.

I am so very sorry about your loss. Your mom was a kind and generous lady, and I have fond memories of both of your parents when I would visit their home. I never heard her speak a harsh word, even when all of us kids were definitely driving her to distraction. I will be praying for all of you in the days ahead.

Teresa, Gracie, Patti, & all the family, we are so sorry for your lost but happy for Ruby, we know she is with Paul, and her loved ones who have gone before her, but most of all she is with Jesus whom she served. She was a beautiful and Godly person that all who knew her, loved her! I am thankful God placed her in our life.
