Sandra "Sandy" Oldham Brown
In Loving Remembrance
Sandra "Sandy" Jane Brown was born August 19th 1944 in Sevierville, Tennessee and departed to heaven on July 28th 2021 at the age of 76. She was the daughter of Richard and Hester Oldham who preceded her in death.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 46 years, James “Jim” Wayne Brown. She is also survived by her two stepsons, Christopher Wayne Brown of Newport News, Virginia and John Clayton Brown of Virginia Beach, Virginia. As well, she is survived by her cousin and best friend, Carol Ann Watson of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She was blessed to have many friends and neighbors within the Canton community.
Sandy graduated from Sevierville High School in 1962 and then attended nursing school. She worked in the medical field until relocating to Newport News, Virginia where she was employed as a dispatcher for the Newport News Police Department. There she met the love of her life, Jim. Sandy and Jim were married in 1974. In 1981 she began her career with the Newport News Sheriff’s Department where, after 22 years of service, she retired at the rank of Lieutenant.
In 2004, Sandy and Jim relocated to Canton, NC where they enjoyed their retirement on top of Glade Mountain. Sandy enjoyed gardening and taking care of her beloved pets. She loved to cook and try new recipes. As well, she enjoyed the company of her wonderful friends and family.
Anyone who knew Sandy knew her love for the television show “Dancing with the Stars”. Our Hearts are rejoicing to know Sandy, herself, is now dancing with the stars.
Services will be private. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canton Animal Hospital located at 74 Radio Hill Rd. Canton, NC 28716.
