A Man Who Loved Life

Canton- Our hearts are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of  Shoani Dean Stamey, age 50,  on Friday, January 29, 2021.

Shoani was born December 11, 1970 to the late Sam Stamey and the late Elizabeth Jane Stamey. He had made his home in Haywood County all of his life and had been employed as a talented automobile mechanic. Shoani loved spending time outdoors and fishing in his favorite mountain streams. He had been adventurous all of his life and riding his motorcycle was one of his favorite hobbies that brought him much joy. During quiet times Shoani spent many hours working 3-D puzzles. He was a man that loved life and he was blessed with a multitude of friends that will miss him deeply. In the words of his family, “ Shoani was a wonderful husband, dad, papaw, and brother.” His memory will be cherished forever.

Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years, Veronica Clement Stamey of Canton; his children, Christopher Shook of Canton, Caitlyn Black of Canton and Sean Stamey of Canton; a grandchild, Collin Black; a sister, Robin Stockton of Canton and a brother, Mark Stamey and Kristie of Canton; a niece, Felecia Barrett; a nephew, Earnie Patterson, Jr. and also many other nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, February 5, 2021 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. Pastor Gene Worley will be officiating. Attendance will be limited to 50 and all COVID -19 regulations must be observed. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The Stamey family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Crawford / Ray Funeral Home, 1 North Main Street, Canton, NC 28716 to help assist them with funeral expenses.

Spent many many many of nights in the shed or on the porch thinking about the grill he made from the propane tank. He was a man that would do anything for anyone glad I got to know him closely he was a one of a kind man he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him my thoughts and prayers are with the whole family during this time if yall need anything lil man knows how to get ahold of me

Shoani was a good brother-in-law we had a lot of good times as a family. He was always kind to me and my husband and kids always made us laugh and helped us with anything he could. worked on a lot of cars with dad. He will be missed. We are praying for the family. Love yall
