Sue Duckett Clevenger
Wonderful Wife, Mother and Grandmother
Clyde- Sue Ann Duckett Clevenger, age 81, a lady dedicated to her Lord, her beloved family and also her church family entered into her glorious place of peace and paradise on Friday, January 8, 2021.
Sue was born July 23, 1939 in Buncombe County to the late Everett James Duckett and the late Bonnie McElrath Duckett. She had made her home in Haywood County since 1956 and was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. Sue was a talented seamstress and she made many children’s beautiful clothes. She was a wonderful cook and she spent many endless hours canning all types of vegetables during the summer season. Sue always enjoyed spending time outdoors and she loved to hunt and fish. Sue was a devout Christian and her faith was an important part of her life. Mrs. Clevenger was a dedicated member of Clyde Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist and also organist for 35 years. Sue blessed so many with her kindness and she was always a true friend. She was a wife with a loving heart, a mother and grandmother with steadfast love, and a sister with unyielding faith. We rejoice for her wonderful life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Landrath; her brothers, Ralph Duckett and Garland Duckett and a sister-in-law, Joyce Duckett.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Grover Clevenger of Clyde; her children, Grovina Henson of Canton, Carroll Clevenger of Clyde and Rita Putnam and her husband, Dean Putnam of Clyde; grandchildren, Hollie (Jeremiah) Davis of Winston-Salem, John McDowell “Mikie” Michal, V of Canton and Brandon Clevenger of Canton; a great-grandchild, Soren Eloise Davis of Winston-Salem; a brother, Bobby Duckett and his wife, Carleen Duckett of Clyde; sisters-in-law, Jackie Duckett of Hendersonville and Lillian “Lil” Brooks of Clyde; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Reverend Jody Shuford will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. All COVID- regulations will be observed. Burial will be at Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery. A live stream of the funeral service will be available 5 minutes prior to the service.
