Candler- Sylvia Higdon Webb, age 87, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 and entered into her glorious Heavenly home.

A native of Graham County, she was born March 11, 1932 to the late Fred Higdon, and the late Julia Lovin Higdon. Mrs. Webb had resided in Haywood County for several years before making her home in Buncombe County since 1970. She had been employed with MB Haynes as an accounting secretary and dispatcher where she retired with many years of dedicated service and later had worked as a secretary for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sylvia was blessed with a wonderful personality and in her younger years, she loved to dance especially square dancing. She also enjoyed bowling in a mixed league at Star Lanes in Asheville and made many friendships that Sylvia cherished throughout her lifetime. Mrs. Webb was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church in Candler. As we remember Sylvia, we remember her kind and caring heart and her great love and pride that she held for all of her family. Her life has touched many and she will never be forgotten.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James DeRoy Webb (1969); sisters, Nell Farr, and Blanche Jenkins; and brothers, J.C. Higdon, and Charles Higdon.

Surviving are her son, James Webb (Angie Inman) of Leicester; grandchildren, James Webb, Jr. of Asheville, and Jessica Webb Defibaugh (Roger); great-grandchildren, Skylar Defibaugh, and Landon James Webb; sister, Belle Ingram; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Charlene Medlin and Bryan Jenkins will be officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Webb family.
