Waynesville - Victor Edward “Eddie” Owenby, age 73, a man who was a friend to many, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021.

Victor was born July 8, 1947 to the late Victor Reeves Owenby and the late Helen Conner Owenby. He had made his home in Haywood County most of his life and he had been employed by Schulhofer's in Waynesville for 30 dedicated years. Eddie had a strong work ethic and always was working and keeping busy. He had also worked with HVO in Waynesville, Unagusta Furniture, and also Powell Lumber in Canton. He spent many hours outdoors, fishing in his favorite streams and hunting in the mountains.  Victor was a talented craftsman, building furniture and also model airplanes that he enjoyed flying every chance that he could find. Eddie was deeply loved and his memory will forever be held in the hearts of his loved ones and many friends.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor Reeves Owenby, Jr. and Harley Glenn Owenby.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Kathy Webb Owenby; his children, David Owenby of Waynesville and Sabrina Marie Ashe and Jeffrey of Canton; grandchildren, Joshua P. Owenby and his fiancée, Felicia Parham, Jeffrey N. Ashe, Amber Dawn Owenby,  Tristan Owenby, Dakota Owenby, and Grant Owenby; five great-grandchildren; his sister and brothers, Alma Reagan of Waynesville, Billy Owenby of Waynesville, Jimmy Owenby and Patricia of Waynesville, Richard Owenby and Claudette of Clyde, Gifford Webb and Amy of Canton, Marie Webb and Jerimiah of Waynesville, Harley Glenn Owenby of Georgia and Billy Wayne Owenby of Georgia; and also daughter-in-law and David's former wife, Tracy Owenby.

A graveside funeral service will be announced.
