William "Bill" Brewton, Esq.
Clyde- In the peaceful early morning hours of Saturday, November 7, 2015, William “Bill” Franklin Brewton,entered into a place of peace, entered into a place of joy and entered into his eternal heavenly home.
Mr. Brewton was born September 5, 1932 and was blessed with 83 years of a wonderful life upon this earth.
He was a native of New Port Richey, Florida and had resided most of his life in Dade City, Florida before making his home in Haywood County for the past 30 years. Mr. Brewton received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and upon graduation continued his education at the University of Florida where he achieved the distinguished honor of Doctorate of Law. Mr. Brewton honorably served his country in the United States Army and also in the Florida National Guard. In his profession of law Mr. Brewton represented the citizens of Dade City, Florida for 52 dedicated years. He was involved in many civic and community organizations, having been a member of the Dade City Rotary Club, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Dade City, a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and a member of the Dade City Shriners. Mr. Brewton had been elected as a Dade City Commissioner and also served as Mayor. He had been a member of the United Methodist Church of Dade City, where he had served on the administrative board and was also a member of the church choir. After making his home in the mountains he became a member of New Covenant Church in Clyde. William “Bill” Brewton was truly a man who gave of himself to others and made a difference in many lives. Most importantly, was Bill’s great love that he had for his family – they were indeed his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade Brewton and Jewel McLean Brewton and also a sister and a brother.
Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia “Patti” Morris Brewton of Clyde; a son, Derek H. Brewton and his wife, Lisa Brewton of Sylva and a precious granddaughter, Natalie Brewton of Sylva.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at The Historic Grove Church, located on the grounds of Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 until 1:30 pm at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton prior to the service which will be held at The Grove in Clyde. Entombment will follow at The Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens.
