In God's Care

It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of William Doyle Justice, a man who will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, an amazing dad and papaw, and a true friend to so many. He left us peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, and entered into his glorious place in heaven.

Doyle was born September 1, 1948, and was the son of the late William Carl Justice and the late Mary Ann Hicks Justice.  A lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was raised with a large loving, and Christian family surrounding him all of his life and he was a blessing to everyone all 75 years of his full and wonderful life.  A man who loved his country, Doyle served in the North Carolina National Guard with honor and great pride and this was a reflection of his steadfast values and his sense of duty.

Doyle was a man of love, strength, and kindness. His life was filled with much happiness and laughter, as his fun and joking personality brought much joy to everyone around him. His more than 40 years of employment with Evergreen Packaging was also an example of his strong work ethic and his commitment to always giving his best.

He was a true outdoorsman, and the wonderful memories shared with his sons going hunting among the mountains they love and fishing their favorite streams will be cherished memories they will never forget. Doyle instilled in his sons a deep appreciation for the beauty and serenity of nature and helped to make them the strong men that they are today. Doyle often enjoyed playing billiards with friends and sometimes he could be found “taking it easy” working on his iPad at home. Doyle had served as a past Governor with the Waynesville Moose Lodge # 1733 where he made many friendships that have remained with him throughout the years.

An exceptional musician, Doyle played his guitar in a way that touched the hearts and souls of many. He was so very talented and was well known throughout Western North Carolina for his musical gift. His talent was immense, yet he remained humble, always willing to share his knowledge with others.

Doyle was a man who cared about others, he was always willing to help with fundraisers or lend a helping hand to someone in need. He was a man of strong faith and was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church in Clyde. Doyle’s life was an inspiration for us to follow. Doyle was a guiding light and a pillar of strength to all his family and to all who knew him. His precious spirit will continue to watch over us until we meet again. Doyle is in God’s care on this day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Bennett, Betty Jo Santos, Jewell Putnam, and a brother, Ben Justice.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Gloria Queen Justice; his sons who were his pride and joy, William “Bill” Justice, Jr., and Sheila of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Blake Daniel Justice and Amy of Abingdon, Virginia; his step-daughters who he loved deeply, Stephanie Reece of Waynesville, Angie Reece Mathis of Waynesville and Tracey Jaynes and Michael of Waynesville; his grandchildren that Doyle adored, Will, Blaine, Cooper, Blake, Tiffany, Gracie, Heather and Molly; his beloved precious great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Hunter, HannahLeigh and Callie Rae; also a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Justice will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Reverend Dewayne Rathbone will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Center Pigeon Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Justice’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee, 38148-0142

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Justice family.

We were so sorry to learn of Doyle's passing. Our sympathy goes out to Gloria and their extended family. We knew Doyle as a neighbor. He was always so friendly and would throw his hand up if we drove by his house and he was outside. There was never any kind of disturbance coming from his home and he was the perfect neighbor. He will be remembered fondly by people in the community.
