Clyde – William “Bill” Phillip Idell, age 67, of Gibson Branch Road, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

Mr. Idell was born September 11, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late William Idell and the late Marie Gaughan Idell. He had resided in Florida before making his home in Haywood County for the past 23 years. Mr. Idell had honorably served his country as a United States Army veteran. He had been employed as an electrician, having worked nationally and internationally for several large construction companies until his retirement. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. William will always be remembered as a kind man, who never spoke an unpleasant word about anyone. His funny and unique phrases and sense of humor was truly enjoyed by everyone blessed to know him. Also, never to be forgotten are the special times of fellowship that Bill shared each and every Wednesday with his friends, “the three guys”. William Phillip Idell’s spirit will live on through the lives of his family and friends and when remembering and thinking of him- joy will fill our hearts.

Surviving are his loving wife, Linda Butterworth Idell; daughters, Jaime Decardenas and her fiancé, Pete Sawczyn of Jacksonville, FL and Christine Mullen of Cumming, GA; sons, Mike Bizzarro of Mason, OH and Dominick Bizzarro and his wife, Cynthia Bizzarro of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Casey, Derrick, Brandon, Conner, Taylor, Toni, Johnny, Ryan, Leandra and Ashley, who stayed by her “Grandpa Bill’s” side; cousins, Jan and Steve Austin; his special friends, “the three guys”, Larry Ledford, Rod Hartness and Tommy Pope; and also his two Yorkies, Radar and Maggie.

The Idell family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Homestead for the special love and care given to William.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Mr. Idell’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Homestead, 127 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Idell family.

Condolences from family and friends

My love and sympathy go out to all his friends and family. Huge hugs to Linda from your family at Haywood- you know where we are when you need us. It's often so hard to let go when it's someone so dear to you, and I admire your strength to follow through with what Bill wanted.

Words can't express the sorrow I feel. I miss you Billy, you have left a hole in my heart. I will cherish the memories of the hundreds of adventures we have shared. Burbank, CA, Mexico, Venus Beach, aka, "The Kokomo", St Croix and The cool Down Bar, Kazakhstan and The Job From Heaven, Ham's restaurant on the campus of Greensboro College where you said you could, "Feel the Knowledge", the list is too long. Over all the years I became fluent in "Bill Speak" Bad Monkey-Hot Sun, Good Monkey-Sun on a cold day, Kicks-shoes or boots, It's getting ugly-unhappy or something bad, Is it Thar?-is the drink mixed correctly?, No quat!-no guacamole, Jitterbug-country music singer who couldn't play an instrument. Alcohol abuse-a beer left so long it became warm. No one can replace you Bill, but we will try to keep your memory alive. Love you, Roddy
