WAYNESVILLE — William Rufus Meadows, 88, of Ivy Hill, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016.
Mr. Meadows was born May 19, 1927 in Haywood County and was the son of the late Millard C. Meadows and the late Hester Henson Meadows. He had resided in Haywood County most of his life and was the manager of Meadows Exxon in Waynesville. William enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing but his true passion was his garden. He shall be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Meadows and an infant daughter, Angela Meadows.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Vera Rhodarmer Meadows of Waynesville; daughters, Carolyn Collier and her husband, Ronnie Collier of the Fines Creek Community and Mildred Miller and her husband, Sam Miller of Pennsville, New Jersey and Melody Dailey and her husband, Dewight Dailey of Canton; sons, Charles Meadows and his wife, Jane Meadows of Waynesville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, J. D. Meadows and his wife, Doris Meadows of Arkansas and sisters, Mattie Meadows of Pennsville, NJ, Helen Grant of Waynesville and Thelma Hiles and her husband, “Butch” Hiles of Pennsville, New Jersey.
A graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at Greenhill Cemetery in Waynesville. The Rev. Oliver Cagle will be officiating.
